So I recently finished my very first hat. I am very proud of myself, it was a complicated pattern and it required knitting in the round. It's really cozy too.

Surgery went well. I woke up in pain with my foot swollen this morning, maybe the bandage is too tight. Ow.

So I've decided that I'm going to the girl genius ball. I have no idea what to wear. Please help, I was planning on wearing my corset but need something more to make it look steampunk. Any and all help will be appreciated. (there might even be cookies in the bargain too)

I've been good, busy but good. The holidays were nuts for me because of Dickens and finals, but I got through it. Dickens was a lot of fun, though I still have the Cow Palace crud.
I have not been dancing as much as I'd like because my knees are giving me issues, but I will try and get out more often. I've been a homebody lately and need to get out of that rut.

Good weekend. Driving in the snow at night without chains = Really scary. Oregon has a LOT of trees. There is an awesome pub in Ashland. I have a wonderful boyfriend whom I love very much.

One bit of sad news, I found out over the weekend that someone I went to elementary school with, who I was friendly towards passed away, it's still sinking in he was a nice guy.

Other than that I had a really good spring break, it was good to see the family and also to get away for a long weekend with Xander. I am glad to be back though, even if I will be busy. I missed the city.

4:33PM - Fire bad, tree pretty

Cliche but appropriate.
Last night after we fell asleep around 1am, Xander and I were awakened by the fire alarm at 3 am, so we and his roommates went outside, thinking it was a false alarm. After a couple of minutes and having smelled smoke on our way out, we saw thick black smoke coming from the building. An apartment one floor down and in the opposite corner was actually on fire. The fire department came and put the fire out and after a couple of hours we were allowed back in the building. There was no damage to Xander's apartment, though the air was a little smokey. We didn't get to sleep again until around 6:30, inspectors came around 10:30 to check for smoke damage. We are all ok, if shaken up a bit. Needless to say though, I am tired. The damage to the building is very surreal, but I am glad we are all safe.

I like rain, I really do, but I need a bigger umbrella, or pants that repel water. I am so glad I got rain boots for Christmas, my feet are dry. My knees on the other hand are damp, my umbrella is too small. Classes started yesterday, it looks like I will have a good, if busy semester. Here's hoping I don't drown before the end of the semester.
